DROPPED KERB SURVEY

With the help of local resident Catherine Simpson and her father, who is a wheelchair user, I recently carried out an audit of dropped kerbs around the village.  It is clear that there are a number of areas where further work is needed in order to help make our village accessible for everyone.  I will be submitting a report of my findings to Cheshire East Highways in the near future; however, if you are aware of any streets where there is a particular issue, please let me know by filling in the comments box below.

Thank you for your time on Wednesday, Craig. Accessibilty is an issue not just in Alderley Edge, but in every town and village. To get about we are basically reliant on the dropped kerbs at people's driveways, but these are obviously made for cars, not wheelchairs, so can present their own problems. It also means there is generally not a corresponding dropped kerb on the opposite side of the road.

I would encourage anyone who has similar difficulties to get in touch as perhaps together we can start to change attitudes and raise awareness of the difficulties faced by those whose mobility is compromised in some way.
