Waitrose are planning to introduce a new regime at their Car Park, with a reduced maximum stay of 90 minutes and refundable charges for Waitrose customers, as follows:
20 minutes - free of charge
60 minutes - 50p
90 minutes - £1.00
Do you agree that the reduced time limit will hurt independent retailers and be harmful to our village? Please let me know.
Please join me in helping to shame drivers who think double yellow/single yellow lines should only apply to other people and not themselves. Post a photo of an illegally parked vehicle and use the twitter handle @ShameADriver
Thanks :-)
The Parish Council have sponsored some new planters in the village, but we are still looking for businesses to help sponsor some more. Please get in touch with me if you are able to consider sponsoring a planter (£10 one-off, plus £10 per year for plants).
I'm pleased to report that Cheshire East's gully clearing programme will continue in Alderley Edge tomorrow, in the centre of the village. Please note NO PARKING in Clifton Street, Stamford Road, Lynton Lane.
I'm pleased to report that the street sign at the Redesmere Drive end of Windermere Drive has finally been replaced after the previous sign disintegrated. With thanks to Cheshire East Highways.
I am pleased to report that a section of Macclesfield Road (opposite Broomfield & at the top of the hill) is due to be patched, with work taking place on Thursday 14th July. In addition, the long awaited double yellow lines will also be done before the end of the month.
I am pleased to report that the roundabouts at the ends of Beech Road have been repaired following damage by heavy vehicles over the course of the winter. White marker posts will be installed, which are designed to prevent vehicles taking a short-cut over the roundabout and spoiling the amenity for everyone.
I'm delighted to say that the children's play area in the park is going to be completely revamped over the next few weeks. The cost of £48,018 will be funded from existing Section 106 monies designated for Alderley Edge. The final designs will now be discussed and considered by the Parish Youth Council before the work is carried out.
Just to bring everyone up to date, the collapsed drain in the park has been reported and has now been allocated a job number. Work should be underway in the next few weeks.
